STELLANTIS/ Invests in Tiamat and affordable sodium-ion battery technology

Milan - Stellantis Ventures, the venture capital fund of Stellantis N.V., has announced that it is investing in Tiamat, a French company developing and selling sodium-ion battery technology. This new technology has several benefits over traditional lithium and cobalt-based batteries, including a lower cost per kilowatt-hour and a more sustainable and independent supply chain. Tiamat is one of the eleven technology start-ups that received the Stellantis Ventures Award in 2023, and it is the first company in the world to commercialize sodium-ion technology in an electrified product. This investment will support Stellantis in offering clean, safe, and affordable mobility solutions to its customers worldwide, as sodium-ion technology promises to provide a more cost-effective energy storage solution than the widely used lithium-ion battery technology.
